About Us
Being creative and making beautiful things in different mediums has always been a passion and part of my life. Gifting this, even better.
In recent years my focus has been on beautiful paper and collecting it has become something bordering on obsessive.
Paperhog was formally established in 2017 and is evidence of a love affair with beautiful paper.
The affair started in back in 2009 when I struggled through starting my own business in the arts and crafts space; a most difficult time with very little to work with forced “out of the box” thinking and teaching others the art of being creative. I think I found my passion!
The business ended and I joined mainstream work but the affair was not over. Starting with cards, invitations and décor I continued with my passion. From there, designing calendars, making Post-Its, clocks, boxes and anything that would showcase gorgeous papers.
Raising two girls demanded that I be organised and on top of my game, a challenging job on its own. Lists, diaries and notes were the name of the game and I had to find what worked for me.
And so, the designing of the (perfect), workable, creative diary started; and people loved them.
A good notebook, a journal of life, a great companion for formalising ideas, capturing new ones, lists of possibilities, scribbles, doodles and good mental health, all inside beautifully crafted covers. They are tactile, textured, and vibrant and inspire creativity and writing.
In an ever changing and super technical world where we live online, I believe there is a greater need for us to get off-line, out of our heads and back into writing. There is nothing like seeing a fresh blank page, feeling its coolness and the excitement of putting ink to it.
Paperhog is a proudly South African product and many designs and colour schemes have been inspired by our rich culture and heritages.
